Basic laundry room modifications can be very simple and include:
- Purchase front-loading machines and place them on an elevated platform for easier access and less back strain.
- Install an accessible counter for folding cloths and performing other tasks. This counter can also be mobile, much like a kitchen island unit. A rolling cabinet can help Vera or Bob transfer laundry from one machine to another or laundry from one room to another.
- Mount hanging rods in the laundry room for easy storage.
- Purchase laundry items in a manageable size or transfer them to smaller containers. Buying in bulk is less expensive, but the undue stress may negate the savings.
